Ok ok, yes I know anything can be fashion :) This wasn't a sermon on style (I am not qualified!) just a 3am notice I sent to ask people to keep the group sane! People sign up pretty clear what "fashion" means on SL, and my job is to make sure we stick to what they signed up for.

Thanks for the suggestion Richard! I've often tried to draft an inclusive list, but it gets huge whenever I start, and if it's not exhaustive, I get a TON more IMs ("is it ok to advertise hair/skin/prim lashes/shoes/bags/socks/ao's/collars/hats/nails/tattoos....?"). I tried therefore to not go the exhaustive route and just say "“anything that enhances an avatar’s inworld look” - admittedly quite far down the FAQ yes, as it's a point for designers, not shoppers... I hope good sense will reign!

OK, it's pedant's corner. My dictionary says "fashion: A popular trend, esp. in styles of dress and ornament or manners of behavior : his hair is cut in the latest fashion. The production and marketing of new styles of goods, esp. clothing and cosmetics." (Note, that's "esp.".) See also Wikipedia's long list of "areas of fashion", which includes "interior design". Fashion covers interior design.

Sofas can be fashion as much as clothes.

FashCon, on the other hand, that's about SL wearables, and you _should_ stop sofa advertising. But I'm afraid your FAQ isn't very clear about this until question 47. I certainly didn't realize you had such a narrow definition of "fashion" until that point. Perhaps you should say "clothes, cosmetics, and jewellery" (or whatever) right up front under "What is Fashion Consolidated".

Also said lovingly. Keep up the good work Honey!

Absolutely not Peter, unless you posted a notice to FashCon about it. Posts on this blog only refer to FashCon, and no general criticism at all is meant. I love sofas, I'm on one now.

The jist is that my 8000 members join Fashion Consolidated to see new fashion releases, which on SL everyone understands to mean avatar wear. It's defined a bit better in the FAQ, and one of my roles is to make sure broadly people get what they signed up for, so they stay.

To the other commenter - if you're a FashCon designer making a serious comment about FashCon content, please leave a name :)
