New designers and HUD

After 8 solid hours of working on FashCon with my faithful scripting friend and hero, I’ve come to realise that what we’re trying to do with FashCon kiosks and the HUD is scarily bleeding edge for rubbish old SL: her brilliant scripts are constantly finding new ways to make the crappy tricycle of LSL work on a motorway. We’ve had quite serious problems with getting the kiosk system to handle the number of designers (which took a day or two to solve, again) and then the HUD exploded in pink smoke when I added the latest load of new designers. My ever inventive friend is currently boiling up test tubes in her evil lab and is confident we can make it work again, but for now, please note that the new FashCon HUD has “Random” and “Sort” mode removed to make it work. Her work is quite brilliant, she is wonderful and responsive, and you have no clue how clever she is in fixing the bits that LL broke, constantly.

This doesn’t matter much as “Bus Tour” mode will give you random shops anyway, but they’ll be back soon I think. I’ve also jiggled up the current list of shops in the HUD so it’s random anyway. Go on a Bus Tour with the girls from 3B! /me wipes her hands on her skirt.

So – all you need to do is load up your FashCon HUD and it’ll send you the new version. Unload your old one and load the new one and you have 61 new locations on your list. Yay! If you don’t have a FashCon HUD, they’re all the rage – 650 distinct people used it last week – and all you need to get one is to click any FashCon kiosk inworld, or visit the FashCon Cafe.

Designers

Please could you all ensure your FashCon kiosks remained rezzed in your shops. Every week I process what the kiosks tell me , and if one’s missing I have to assume a designer closed shop – I try to visit them all and chat to you, but I just don’t have enough hours in the week. Also please make sure your kiosk belongs the land group that can run scripts IF you disable scripts generally – if not the kiosk server will assume you’ve gone and you’ll be removed. Eep!

Copyright and Piracy Claims

I’m very often now being asked to arbitrate in disputes over claims and counterclaims of piracy between designers, and often embroiled for days in an avalanche of notecards, IM logs (some of which break Terms of Service) and pictures. Very often someone who feels they’ve been wronged can’t understand why I won’t remove the accused at the first complaint, and figures I am soft on piracy – I end up pretty tired and not really very loved from either side. Please, remember that I am not capable or willing to be sole judge of claimed piracy, and however clear a case may seem, there is often a second story, as I keep learning. This week I’ve been involved in one false claim of piracy, one genuine one, and another one currently under dispute, each of which took 3-4 hours of work. I can’t keep this up. So please before you ask me to remove someone who you claim has infringed your copyright, check the FAQ, question 52. Take your case to arbitration, file a DMCA, or do something definitive that the community as a whole will recognise as theft, and I will take action swiftly and decisively once the peer community of designers I rely on recognise it clearly – but I can’t judge it myself from a few textures. And for goodness sake, TALK to the other side!

Notices

Designers, for goodness sake stop sending those LM-only notices! And slow down on the sales notices too. Fash Con is about new releases with pics. Curt and to-the-point notecards have been sent. The wages of sin are death.

Me

I’m pretty tired. I want to go to SL clubs again, lose my shoes, climb mountains, meet goats in strange places, tp to parties naked by mistake, flirt with penguins, and all the other things I used to do when I joined SL. PLEASE HELP ME! This means you, yes you, please don’t send me that IM. I rehashed my profile, and the FashCon website, and I’m going to take two things deadly seriously and you’re not allowed to hate me for it!

1. My office hours are 7am-3pm SLT. I won’t be doing anything FashConnistic outside of these hours.
2. I won’t be answering FashCon IMs. ONLY notecards. And ONLY emergency “waa help my leg is on fire” notecards please.

Please don’t IM me, as a lack of reply sometimes offends. I have been told to look after myself better. Yes.
